Rather than working on my books these days, I've started to channel my storywriting habit through the medium of games. Yes, video games. Whilst I don't enjoy playing them as much as I used to, I love making them. The most recent one I've made is called Zendir: A New World.
It's based loosely off a site me and a friend made (but I got permission from them before releasing the game) months ago.
Zendir: A New World is the start of a trilogy that follows Zaphilia throughout her journey to save Zendir. To her, Zendir is a brand-new continent unlike the small island she's lived on throughout her life. Once she reaches Zendir however, a whole new host of characters, each with their own story to tell, is set out before her. It isn't long before she discovers something is amiss in the land... and has to save it.
The second game, Zendir: A World Reborn, follows Zaphilia again as an unexpected twist right at the start propels her right into the thick of things. However, to be able to solve the new problem that Zendir faces, she has to delve into the past and change it. The risks associated with this are however unimaginable and should anything go wrong, she risks tearing the land apart in the future.
Zendir 3 has yet to be announced, but will typically follow upon the story of Zendir 2 and conclude things once and for all.
Now, you may ask: 'why write stories through games, rather than on the computer or by hand as you've done up 'till now?' - the answer to that is simple - interactivity. Only for so long can someone put up with their fountain pen running out of ink, their computer crashing and losing all their work and so on before one decides to call it 'quits'. Well, it isn't really quits as such, but I wanted to do something different. Something other than simply putting pen to paper and hoping the right words come out. I wanted something totally new, something interactive, something everyone can enjoy and appreciate for more than its writing style!
And thus, begins the story of Zendir...
